Ketamine vs etomidate



Today we are going to briefly discus the main difference between ketamine and etomidate which are here as under;

Ketmaine 

Etomidate 

It increases the CBF

It decreases the CBF

Increases the cerebral perfusion pressure (cpp) 

Decreases the cerebral perfusion pressure (cpp)

Increases the ICP

Decreases the ICP

Increases cmro(cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen)

Decreases cmro2  (cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen)

increases the arterial blood pressure

Decreases the arterial blood pressure

Causes salivation but also It causes bronchodilation 

It have less respiratory depressive effects

It causes increased vasodilation 

It causes decrease vasodilation 

Unsuitable for out patients

Suitable for out patients
